Italonia- Fine Italian food
and wines (Hammer's favorite). The Hammer rates this one easily at five
stars. The casual atmosphere is magnificent and the food is
exquisite, making this one of the finest Seoul, if not all of Korea, has
to offer. The wine selection is great, but the key to this fine
restaurant is the wonderful service. A bit on the pricey side, but
worth every dime. Set menus and large ala carte selection.
Valet parking. Good location near It'aewon.
O'Kim's Brauhaus - Located in Kangnam's COEX Mall/Hotel
Intercontinental, O'Kim's is a spacious Irish Pub that offers a casual
atmosphere to sit back and relax with friends. Live bands, great
beer-by the yard, half yard, and more manageable 400cc mug-- great food
too. Try the sausage platter!!!
Hunter's Tavern at the Grand Intercontinental Hotel:
Guess why the web dude likes this place. Cozy, relaxing atmosphere,
friendly and professional staff, great live music. Join us
here for Happy Hour, Mon-Fri, 6-8 pm for all you can drink wine, draft
beer, fruit cocktails and tasty hot munchies! (about 15,000 won per
The Jell Wine Shop (Centrally located in Seoul. Great wines, spirits,
and fresh mozzarella cheese! Located next door is a florist (closed
Sundays) that stocks live basil (in spring and summer), parsley,
and other hard-to-find herbs and spices.)
The Webmaster's Favorite Coffee Joint
Good coffee, friendly service, and a quiet atmosphere are difficult to
find anywhere. Seoul is no exception. At Yongsan's Starbucks, the
atmosphere is splendid, especially on a rainy day when the kids are in
school (and not hanging out at Starbucks!), and the staff is very
friendly. I like to hang out here, read a good book, meet with friends,
and enjoy a good cup of coffee. Did I mention the friendly staff?

As you might have guessed, the Hammer is a lover of anything coffee.
If you're a coffee lover too, I invite you to check out the following

grinder. Starbucks cup optional.

tips and product reviews.
Whole Latte Love (WLL): If you've got the bug, the coffee bug that
is, you've gotta have the best. Get to know the WLL staff. I like WLL
because they're in NY, naturally! But they also ship to APO/FPO
addresses, have a HUGE selection, and have the friendliest customer
service. I have a
Pasquini Livia 90 Automatic machine and a
Mazzer Mini grinder. Whole Latte Love took my order on Sunday, shipped
it on Tuesday (Monday was a holiday), and I received it in Seoul on Monday
week. Best of all, Whole Latte paid for the shipping!
How's that for service?

Dad's Ice Latte
Who would have thought
this summer would have started so early? I love coffee, and
here's one of my favorites that brings a chill to those hot summer
days. Try an iced latte.
Add 4-5 ice cubes, and 2% milk, to a large insulated mug. Add sugar/sweetener
to taste. *NOTE: Leave enough room in the mug for a double shot
While the milk is chilling out over the ice cubes, tamp a double
dose of your favorite espresso grind in the portafilter and pull
your best double shot.
Stir espresso into the chilled milk.
Drink slowly with a straw. Cool!
